The Great Gatsby

My boyfriend is a total movie buff- he has to arrive about forty-five minutes beforehand (not a bad rule considering I'm chronically late to everything!) I was so excited to go see The Great Gatsby that I didn't even protest this rule... Especially when he threw in dinner! ;)

The Great Gatsby is AMAZING! It has me yearning for the Roaring Twenties! I'm a huge fan of Baz Luhrmann! I think Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge were both epic! I love the juxtaposition of modern music with a historic theme. I think it reflects how the themes are timeless- it's just the context that changes.

Down to business... To find out how to recreate the fabulous scene below, tune in here!
This is possibly my favourite show to date, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Bonus points: you'll get a teaser of The Great Gatsby soundtrack!

I can't wait to read F. Scott Fitzgerald's book now. I usually read novels before watching the film adaptation but I changed track this time. What did you think of the movie? Or the book?

If you're interested in having a night time soirée, check out this blog post for some inspiration... Don't forget to put the Moët on ice!

Have a Great weekend, I'm off to party like Gatsby ;)

Stay sweet, ole sport! x

Update: Just finished the novel, by far my favourite novel of the year! Short, sweet, scrumptiously written and so tragic. A head-spinner surely if you haven't seen the movie but I love how the story has stood the test of time. Dix points, ole sport! ;) x

Egg and Spoon

Cadbury's Crème Eggs. I can never get over how delicious they are!! I know they're a real love or hate sweet but really, how can anybody resist?? I always dreamt when I was younger about getting an Easter Egg filled with the Crème Egg inside. Thankfully Cadbury's never invented such a creation, and I have not yet delved into a sugar coma.

Pimp That Snack is an epic website where people even more obsessive than me actually make these giant desserts!!! It's a dangerous website, but soooo worth a troll. Have a look at my favourite, the home-made giant Crème Egg.

Anyways, I've finally accepted the fact that this will probably not become a reality for me, so I turned to a new product... Cadbury's Egg and Spoon!

The chocolate isn't as thick as the Cadbury Crème Egg, but that isn't to say that they aren't as heavy! This was the white chocolate mousse version and wowzers were they filling!! But oh so tasty! I could eat them all day every day! Definitely store them at room temperature because the filling solidifies in the fridge (it'll soften after a few minutes, but who wants to wait that long??)

Creamy, comforting, chocolatey and cute these are fab! You tap off the top of the egg and then dive into the filling! Adorable! I really was pleasantly surprised by them and they'd be great for a girly night or a snack with someone special!

Be warned they only come with two spoons- encouraging us to be fatties maybe! They also are quite pricey but a few stores are selling them at a special introductory price at the moment so if I were you, I'd scoop some up now while you can! :)

Stay sweet! x

Strawberry Sunday ;)

EXTRA, EXTRA! Read all about it!

This is an issue of extreme importance, well to me anyways!

You may have read here about the  most amazing sweets I have ever tasted, while in Mallorca. Well, when I was in Brussels in December I stocked up on these sugary delights sent from heaven. *note, stock does not indicate that the five bags I bought lasted more than a fortnight*

But, I didn't want to moan here on Milis about how they are still unavailable in Ireland...That was until yesterday!

Drumroll, please!!...........

Oh yes, Haribo Strawberry Softies are now available in a store near you!! With no artificial colours! ;)

Each bite was surreal, and I'd like to publicly thank Tesco for stocking these beauties! Now you too can enjoy the most delectable sweets ever made! - I really should earn commission for this! Haribo, you owe me one!

Stay sweet! x

Weekend Treats

Last night I visited the Arts and Crafts Fair in Cork City hall for the first time in years! My mom and I used to go every year when I was younger (the hight light being a Wizard of Oz ragdoll which featured Dorothy but when you turned her upside down the Lion, the Tinman and the Strawman appeared!) This year was a little different as I appreciated the food stands much more. I kept some self control however and only purchased these delicious lollipops from Eve Chocolates. At €1 each they were incredibly good value and oh so delicious!

If anybody is around Cork today, definitely pop in!

This morning was cold, wet and miserable. What better breakfast than pancakes?

Find out how to make pancakes here.

This new addition to the kitchen, a le Creuset jug was perfect for beating the pancakes and really cut down on the clean up job after- it would make a great Christmas present for a pancake chef... and a good hint that you want more pancakes!!

Whatever you get up to, enjoy your weekend!

Stay sweet!
